Product Specialist (Chicago Area)

SCOPE OF POSITION:

Reporting to the Product Specialist Manager, the Product Specialist is responsible for training and demonstrating all products in our company’s multiple brands. The right candidate will be a creative and strategic individual with a history of use of MI products and a great deal of communication skills.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

 

➢ Travel to outside locations to aid in sales support and general knowledge of our products.
➢ Attend/Conduct training sessions for our products.
➢ Attend Trade shows to demonstrate our product for a wide audience.
➢ Attend/Conduct internal employee trainings.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

➢ Candidate must be an expert in the art of communication
➢ Has great knowledge of the industry and products.
➢ Detail-oriented and have exceptional organizational skills
➢ Understanding of both business and consumer marketing needs
➢ Must be able to multitask, plan schedules, adhere to deadlines and manage all details
➢ Ability to prepare and maintain documentation
➢ Well-versed in standard project management strategies and software including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
➢ Sales experience a PLUS.

Sales Manager (New York Metro)

The Sales Manager position is responsible for managing and implementing Sales and Marketing growth objectives, strategies and promotions in the New York Metro area.

Responsibilities:
  • Visit key markets and Distributors to evaluate operations and provide management leadership for increasing sales
  • Maximize both present and long term sales goals and objectives
  • Conduct sales presentations to senior level management
  • Develop, maintain and nurture relationships with customers at all levels
  • Prepare and recommend strategies and plans for developing major accounts
  • Identify opportunities and implement marketing and commercial strategies to increase order volume and profitability
  • Work with Sales and Marketing team to prepare market assessments, competitive analysis and sales forecasts

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in sales required
  • Relevant marketing, business development and business management experience
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organization and follow-through skills
  • Passion for DJ, Music Production and/or Music Performance a strong plus

EU Marketing Manager

Akai Professional is looking for an experienced and confident leader to fill the company’s newly created European Marketing Manager.

The European Marketing Manager will report directly to the Director of Marketing Worldwide and will be responsible for developing, executing and managing the company’s European marketing effort (all brands within the corporate portfolio). This position will be a key member of the Marketing team, working with marketing and sales management to develop channel, direct and end-user communications strategies for the European market. The position will work closely with the global marketing, product development and sales team to develop and implement marketing programs designed to raise brand awareness and maximize channel sell-through.

Web Graphics/Flash Designer

The Web Designer is responsible for the creation of original images, Flash animations, motion graphics and Flash programming for Akai Professional’s websites including interactive content, ad banners, and presentation assets.  The ideal candidate will have an expert digital design portfolio and offer expertise designing, animating and programming Flash-based user experiences for web audiences.  A strong understanding of Actionscript 2.0 & 3.0, interface design and usability is required. The position is located in Cumberland, RI.

Responsibilities:
  • Conceptualize, plan, design and execute high quality original Photoshop and Flash designs, animations, motion graphics and Flash programming/interfaces for Akai Professional and its extended properties
  • Create original images for Web using Photoshop
  • Develop various Flash structures for presenting high quality content in an exciting and usable way
  • Manage assigned projects from start to finish, communicate with Web Developers, Marketing, Design, and Video Production teams
  • Organize design assets, source files and production files for easy retrieval
  • Work in production artist capacity as needed
  • Ability to work as web content editor as needed

Requirements:
  • 5+ years experience in a full time graphic and Flash design position catering to brand name clients
  • 5+ years experience managing design projects from concept to end within a team environment and on deadline
  • Strong time management skills required.  Self-managing, self-starter a must
  • Experience Flashing web related projects from ad banners to multi-page websites using Actionscript, HTML, JS, and PHP
  • Expert knowledge of animation, color, space, typography, and the formal design process
  • Expert knowledge of Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere and other Flash-related applications
  • Strong knowledge of video editing, motion graphics, 3D and the animation process

PHP Web Developer

Akai Professional is currently seeking a PHP Developer. This individual will have expertise in PHP (4 & 5), MySQL, Flash/XML integration, CSS, AJAX, JAVASCRIPT, etc., in a LAMP environment. The ideal candidate for this position will be responsible for maintaining and upgrading our custom CMS as well as developing new functionality. The perfect candidate will be a creative individual who is not afraid to take on additional responsibilities. The position is located in Cumberland, RI.

Responsibilities:
Reporting to the eMarketing Manager, this position will be responsible for conceptualizing, planning, designing and executing well-commented modular and object oriented code for Akai Professional and its extended properties’ websites.

  • Create new modular applications for web using PHP & MySQL with a focus on UI utilizing AJAX where appropriate
  • Manage the code base and architecture for our custom CMS
  • Update code base with enhancements based on internal client needs
  • Design database structures and arrays to support PHP applications
  • Help with linux server maintenance and upkeep as needed
  • Ability to work as web content editor as needed

Requirements:
  • 5+ years experience in a full time PHP development role with a focus on delivering content to consumers
  • 5+ years experience managing development projects from concept to end within a team environment and on deadline
  • Strong background in web development with a complete understanding of server-client relationships
  • SSL and E-Commerce experience including PayFlowPro
  • Strong understanding of LAMP configuration
  • Expert level HTML, CSS, Javascript
  • Strong time management skills required.  Self-managing, self-starter a must
  • Knowledge of Windows, Mac OS X, & Linux

Electronics Technician

We are seeking an experienced electronics technician to support engineering activities in Culver City, California. Candidate must be highly skilled in board-level debugging, soldering fine-pitch surface-mount components, and electronic rework. Experience in simple PCB design and component sourcing are highly desired but not necessary.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Building small runs of prototype PCBs
  • Board-level and component-level debugging
  • Parts procurement for engineering
  • Maintennance of lab area and inventory
  • Simple PCB design
  • Parts database management

Qualifications:

  • 2-5 years experience as an electronics technician
  • Associate degree in technical field
  • Excellent soldering skills

Graphics Designer

You will be designing print and web-based collateral, including packaging, advertising, trade show graphics and catalogs, for the Numark, ION Audio, Alesis, and Akai Professional brands. We lead the way in the Professional DJ and M.I. industries, offering everything from basic tools to the most advanced gear for professional musicians and producers. The ideal candidate has an eye for detail, and an ear for music: creating, producing or mixing. Experience in, or knowledge of the DJ or Pro-Audio industry is helpful.

Job Requirements:

  • 3 - 5 years Graphic Design experience
  • B.F.A. in Graphic Design or Visual Communications, from an accredited college or university
  • Ability to create innovative solutions for a variety of products with a fine attention to detail, and a high standard of quality
  • Solid understanding of print processes and methods, with direct experience in preparing materials for print, and creating print specs
  • Experience in understanding and applying market trends and consumer research data to packaging, advertising, and other collateral
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to manage and direct photo shoots, including digital photo-retouching
  • Experience in developing and understanding of Corporate Branding and Identity Systems
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, notably InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Excellent communications skills, with experience in working with off-shore manufacturers and vendors
  • Strong problem-solving skills
